September Tip of the Month: It’s National Preparedness Month – each year, we designate this month to commemorate the events of 9-11, 2001. Make a commitment to do at least one thing in September that enhances your personal level of preparedness or encourages those around you. As we have seen in disasters around the world, it is our collective effort that carries us through during disaster.
September is also Life Insurance Awareness Month – consider the tips in the article below by this month’s guest contributor, Ridge McCoy, from West Seattle:
Being prepared is smart – Protect the people you love in the event of the unexpectedWith today’s busy lifestyle, it takes a plan to get things done. Whether it’s making a grocery list, or planning a wedding, careful preparation can help you save time, money and countless headaches.
Surprisingly, though, most people don’t have a well-thought-out plan when it comes to protecting their loved ones if something bad were to happen – an unexpected illness, untimely death or perhaps worst case, disaster. Ask yourself, if the unexpected suddenly happened, how would your family do? Would your family have the financial means to remain in your home? Could your children still graduate from college? Would your dependents be able to pursue their dreams and goals? The right insurance and a proper financial plan in place can help provide some peace of mind before disaster strikes.
A knowledgeable and experienced life insurance agent can work with you to determine which type of coverage is best for you. What’s the difference between term and permanent life insurance? What type of coverage is best for your situation? Get the full picture before making a decision. Then, when you create a financial strategy, you can be better equipped for whatever the future brings.
If you already have an agent, thank him/her for helping you plan and prepare. If you don’t, or if you haven’t reviewed your plan in the last couple of years, this may be a good time to take this important step toward family and financial preparedness.
